AN UMPIRE’S VIEW:

In a local match, the umpire was being jeered and heckled unmercifully from the crowd. At length he walked over to the boundary and sat down next to his chief critic.” What are you doing?” asked the spectator.” Well,” said the umpire,”it seems you get the best view from here.

At one point during a game, the coach said to one of his players, “Do you understand what cooperation is? What a team is?”The player nodded in the affirmative.“Do you understand that what matters is whether we win together as a team?”The player nodded yes.“So,” the coach continued, “when a strike is called, or you’re out at first, you don’t argue or curse or attack the umpire. Do you understand all that?”Again the player nodded.”Good,” said the coach, “now go over there and explain it to your friends.” UMPIRE TO  THE COACH;  THANKS

THE WOMEN"S FAST PITCH GAME IS BEING BROUGHT BACK TO
THE OLYMPICS -- SO "USA" A BETTER NAME

Umpires Fran Desmarais ,Umpire/Chief Jack Hackett, Umpire Pat Ahaesy.
Fran and Pat have over 47 Years of Officiating. Jack has 45 Years. They are VETERAN OFFICIALS.They know the Game.

Umpire Benny Burns, a retired Correctional Officers.
He travels from New Bedford. He also Officiates
High School and Recreational Girl's Fast Pitch Games.
Natalie Hackett trying to get a Ride on the Bike.

Umpire Skip Tallman , SCSL Officer Bob Hackett, Umpire Armand Rebello.
Both Umpires were Inducted into the 2018 SCSL HALL OF FAME. Both
are Strong Officials,they have been doing it for many Seasons.

Jack with Umpire Bill Santos. Bill is in the SCSL HALL OF FAME.
He was a temendous Player.Now for many Seasons he has been
Officiating the Game. Bill is Highly Respected by Managers and Players,
He does Know the Game.

Three MIB UMPIRES- Bill Santos- Bruce Vancour - Steve Winarski
Bruce is a Welcome addition to the MIB-A real Good Official. Knows the Game and Controls the Game. Steve Winarski well known in the Fall River Area. Steve was the Football Coach at Durfee High School , also was the Girl's Fast Pitch Coach (Won the State High School Championship) .He is now the Football Coach at Diman. A Welcome Addition to the MIB. Umpiring at the SCSL, A Good Umpire.

Umpire Mark Enwright. Mark's Team Fun Bunch for Many
Seasons Won the Tiverton Men's League. Now he is officiating
doing a Great Job. He also Officiated High School Girl's Fast Pitch Games.
SCSL and Tiverton will not have Mark for awhile.His work hours have been Changed,
Tough to make the Games. A Real Blow to the MIB to lose his OFFICIATING.

Umpire Dave Botelho.In his younger Days he played ShortStop for a New Bedford Team. He is now into his Third Season of Officiating. He Works all the Leagues, SCSL-TIverton-Church League. He is always available.He enjoys being part of the Game. He works hard to be a Good Umpire.

Umpire Roy Vieira is out of Dartmouth This is his Second Season of Officiating.
He really enjoys it. He stated to me I should have gotten involved many seasons
ago. He is now starting to work all the Leagues. A very Dependable Umpire.
The MIB is glad to have him.

Jack is very Pleased to Announce that Umpire Bruce Vancour will also start Officiating the SCSL Night League Games. He Officiated the Finals in the One-Pitch Tournament with Armand Rebello and BOTH did a Tremendous Job.

Jeremy Ellis -- Welcome to the Men-In-Blue Umpire's Association. Jeremy is in the NEW USA Umpire Uniform. Looks Sharp. He is very involved in the Game-Sponsor-Manager-Player -SCSL Officer and Now a Game Official. He is doing a Good Job and he is Enjoying It. Glad to have him on Board. A Plus for the MIB.

USA Umpire Joe "Farmer" Aguiar. He just retired from the Fall River School Department,where he worked in Maintenance. Playing the Game years back,
Joe Pitched a No-Hitter and Director Jack Hackett Officiated that game. He has been Umpiring for about 15 Seasons. Joe knows the Game Rules and the Mechanics.He was instrumental in Repairing the Electric Score Board at the Field. GREATLY APPRECIATED.

USA Umpire Joe Ricardo. Joe now lives in Orlando ,Florida
where he has a Landscaping Business. He does all the
Area Softball Fields and also Officiates the Games . He has been calling
Balls ,Strikes and Outs for over 25 Seasons. He also was a former SCSL Player for
many Seasons. He comes North each summer to help the MIB Umpire's Association.
Joe Does a Good Job Officiating. He knows the Game.

Pat ,one of the Oldest Service Wise in the Men-in-Blue
Joe comes up from Florida each Season .
Back in Fla. he's aLandscaper on all the Softball Fields.
He was here helping Jack get the Field ready for the 2019 season.
Also Joe who has over 40 years involved with Softball
as a PLAYER and OFFICIAL will be inducted into the
SCSL HALL OF FAME on JUNE 23rd. at the FIELD
AWARD CEREMONY. "CONGRATULATIONS".

is wrapping up his Girl's High School
Softball Umpiring and will be back handling the
Tiverton and the SCSL Night League Games.
